Hazlehurst Office

Kitchens Brothers Mfg. Co. is a family owned company with headquarters in Utica, MS. It currently operates three sawmills and a dimension mill with locations in Utica and Hazlehurst, MS and Monroe, LA.

Mr. M. D. Kitchens and Mr. Lenon Kitchens started Kitchens Brothers in 1945 with one small sawmill in Utica, MS. Kitchens Brothers became incorporated in 1959. After the death of his brother Lenon in 1967, M. D. Kitchens became sole owner of Kitchens Brothers.

In 1987, ownership of the Company was transferred equally to M. D. Kitchens three sons, Greg, Alan, and Kevin. Mr. D. Greg Kitchens is the current President of Kitchens Brothers. Greg became President on December 31, 1987, following the retirement of his father. Greg Kitchens is actively involved in all decision making processes for all three of the mills. Alan Kitchens is the Secretary of Kitchens Brothers. He is responsible for the acquisition of all new equipment and the daily activities of the Hazlehurst mill. Kevin Kitchens is the Vice-President of Kitchens Brothers. Kevin is responsible for the daily activities of the Monroe mill.

Kitchens Brothers acquired another facility in Hazlehurst, MS in 1982. This acquisition more than doubled the asset base of the company. A second shift was added at Utica in 1986 and has continued to the present time. In April of 1988, Kitchens Brothers acquired their current Monroe, LA facility.

The company has grown 600% in production to a level of 48,000,000 board feet per year from the three sawmills. Kitchens Brothers produces lumber for use in furniture, kitchen cabinets, interior mouldings, flooring, and packaging such as boxes and pallets. Our main species are Red Oak and White Oak. We also cut Yellow Poplar, Sap Gum, Hickory/Pecan, Ash, and other minor species.

The production is concentrated in 4/4 and 5/4 thickness, but we also custom cut other thickness that our customers need. Kitchens Brothers also operates a dimension mill in Hazlehurst where we can gang rip and surface to our customer's specified widths and lengths. We operate kilns and planer operations at each mill. The total dry kiln capacity is 1,000,000 BF.
